MATERIALS

3 strands of Craft Lace (60” long)

½” Craft Lace for whiskers

1 pony bead

2 craft eyes

 

INSTRUCTIONS

1. Take 3 strands of Craft Lace and string onto pony bead. Fold in half and knot around the pony bead.
2. Take the craft Lace and make a traditional 3 strand braid on each side of the pony bead.
3. Body: Fold the 2 braids together and make a TURKISH HAT KNOT. D this 2 times to form the mouse body. This knot should form a 1” sized body.
4. Tail: take strands of Craft Lace and divide into 3 sets (2 strands each). Make a traditional 3 strand braid. Continue to braid for about 2 ½” and then knot the end. Leave approx ½” of fringe and cut off excess Craft Lace.
5. Whiskers: Take ½” of Craft Lace and put through the pony bead nose. Cut each side down the center to make whiskers.
6. Glue eyes onto head.

 

TURKISH HAT KNOT

 

1)       Make a first loop.

Make a second loop over the top of the first loop.

2)       Make a third loop by threading the lacing through the first 2 loops.

 

3)       Make a final loop (as shown in sketch). Repeat steps 1-3 to form a larger knot.

 

4)       To finish the knot, tighten all strands well and tie off ends
